Help Shape the Future of Lockerbie Old School
Be part of the story. Join one of our community Steering Groups.
Lockerbie Old School is being built with our community at its heart.
But to make the Hub truly meaningful, we need your ideas, experiences and voices.
That’s why we’re creating three new Steering Groups. These groups are friendly spaces where local people can help shape our programmes, guide our priorities and make sure everything we offer reflects the real needs of DG11.
If you care about sustainability, local business, or supporting families, we’d love for you to join us.
These groups are informal, welcoming and open to everyone. Your input helps us design activities, gather evidence for funding and grow a Hub that works for all.
Green Road Map Group
Help us build a greener, more sustainable Hub.
If you care about the environment, whether you’re an expert or simply passionate about small, everyday changes, this group is for you.
Together we will explore ideas such as:
- recycling and waste reduction
- energy use
- repair cafés and swap shops
- climate-friendly workshops
- community-led Net Zero actions
Your insight will guide our sustainability journey in a way that includes everyone.

Families & Children’s Wellbeing Group
We want the Hub to be a warm, supportive place for families.
If you’re a parent, carer, practitioner, or someone who cares about children's wellbeing, this group needs your voice.
We’ll look at:
- activities for P1–P7
- wellbeing and emotional regulation
- holiday programmes
- sensory and creative sessions
- gaps in local support
- how to make the Hub truly family-friendly
Your experiences will help us design activities that really work for families in our area.

This group will help shape:
- co-working and hot-desking
- meeting rooms and event spaces
- training and business support
- networking opportunities
- future enterprise events
- what local businesses need from the Hub

How the Steering Groups Work
Start Date
Our first meetings will be held in February 2026.
We’ll share exact dates in the new year so everyone has plenty of notice.
What to Expect at the First Meeting
We’ll:
- get to know each other
- introduce the group’s purpose
- explore early ideas and community feedback
- agree on priorities for the year
- No preparation needed, just bring yourself and your thoughts.
Time Commitment
We meet every 8–12 weeks for around 60–90 minutes.
Everything is relaxed, friendly and designed to fit around busy lives.
There’s no long-term commitment.
Who Can Join?
Anyone with an interest in sustainability, families or local business.
You don’t need experience or qualifications.
If you care, you’re welcome.
Accessibility
We want every voice in the room.
If you need flexible timings, or online options, we’ll work with you. Just tell us when you register.
How Your Voice Will Shape the Hub
Everything you share helps us design:
- our activities and events
- children’s wellbeing programmes
- co-working and business support
- partnerships and collaborations
- sustainability plans
- funding bids and evidence
- how we run the building day-to-day
We’ll always keep you updated through a simple “You said → We did” approach, so you can see the impact of your input.
Why This Matters
Lockerbie Old School is more than a building.
It’s a chance to create something hopeful, connected and community-led.
By joining a Steering Group, you help shape a space that will support people for years to come.
